Small bathroom space that works better than large
June 24th, 2008When I come to think about bathroom improvement or renovation I regard a well-known saying: there is always room for perfection. Of course, if you live in a custom-built house with a grandeur and luxurious bath that includes a dressing room, you probably wish your bathroom were larger. However, it’s true that a small bathroom space can feel cozy and intimate. Depending on the decorating style, the bathroom can be quiet and sophisticated, charming and elegant. If you use some of our tips they will make your small bathroom look and feel larger without adding any more square footage. Just a bit of visual magic, color change, and proper lighting, you can transform your small bath into a cozy and revitalizing retreat.
· Pale, soft color schemes tend to give the illusion of more space. You can use bright colors for accessories and towels to put some accents, but choose pastel tones, neutrals, and whites for backgrounds.
· You can add extra bathroom lighting to open up the look of your bathroom and add an interest spot without taking up any counter space. Recessed can bathroom lighting can be installed into the ceiling and directed at work areas. Wall sconces or a countertop lamp will add warmth and cordiality. Skylights and larger windows are more expensive alternatives for bringing more light into the room.
· Though a vanity cabinet provides nice storage facilities under a bathroom sink, takes up lots of precious floor space of the small bathroom. Still, replacing the vanity with a pedestal or wall-mounted bathroom sink can be and is a good variant for making the room feel more open. Try to find alternative storage space with a small shelf or organize a nearby linen closet.
· Even the smallest piece of furniture or accessory that sticks out into the room can stop your and make the room seem cramped. Eliminate wall shelves, hanging racks, or decorative accessories on the bathroom walls that cut into the room and make it look smaller. No doubt, you might need some of the pieces for comfort eye-appeal and their functionality, but if the room feels bigger without them, consider some other solutions of supplying the space you so badly need.
· If the bathroom space allows, get a larger mirror to place in front of the bathroom sink. The mirror will reflect all the light in the room. You even might consider putting a set of mirrors arranged artistically instead of one large mirror such solution will help to distribute even bathroom lighting throughout the room.
· Both the walls and floor will appear to open up if they done with in light colors. If replacing the flooring is not in your priority list, place a large, light-colored rug over your existing flooring.
· No other thing makes a small space feel even smaller like clutter. Select one piece of art instead of a number of small pieces. Use one decorative accessory instead of lots of small ones. If you need things that are to be stocked locate them whatever else out of sight.
